  • Sign up to participate by October 10, 2014.

  • Books will be shipped to you via delivery to your school or to your Follett eBook Shelf.

GROUP GUIDELINES
  • All librarian members of the Librarian Professional Book Club will participate in our virtual discussions of The Indispensable Librarian, Second Edition. To communicate with each other, librarians will become students in Google Classroom. Participation is asynchronous, meaning that you can participate at a time - 24/7 - that is most convenient to you.

  • Approximately every 10 days we will have a new online activity and/or discussion question in our Google Documents. Prior to that date, please read the associated chapters, so you are ready to participate. See our anticipated discussion schedule below.

  • Each of the eight modules will take you about 1 hour to complete. This includes reading the chapters and responding to prompts and others via Google Classroom.

  • Please remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you disagree with someone, please be respectful.

  • Certificates of Participation will be provided for each member who actively participates in all 8 online modules. [Supports REACH FfTL 4d - Growing and developing professionally.]

  • To remain in good standing with the book club and be eligible to receive future book club books free of charge (based on available quantities), participants should, at minimum, respond to the discussion question/activity and comment on at least one other person's post for all eight modules.

Optional Culminating Event

Everyone who participates in all 8 modules will be invited to a face-to-face culminating Indispensable Book Club Dinner & Discussion on Wednesday, February 11th from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. Location to be announced. Doug Johnson, author and nationally recognized leader in school librarianship, is scheduled to skype in to briefly talk to our group. We'll also spend some time in great conversation and sharing. CPDU credit hours will be provided for this event.
